american beauty opening

the opening scene in American beauty starts with a strong yet dull voice over of which the audience will discover as main character Lester Burnham. we are as the audience shown a very dull and boring situation by the flat tone of his voice as the camera zooms in with a birds eye establishing shot backing up the narrative told. the next important shot we see is described as the best part of Lester's day which is masturbation in the shower backing up the dull, boring and miserable life he lives in.

american dream

The American Dream is the freedom that allows all citizens and most residents of the United States to pursue their goals in life through hard work and free choice.
The phrase's meaning has evolved over the course of American history. The founding farthers used the phrase, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." it began as the opportunity to achieve greater material prosperity than was possible in their countries of origin. For others it is the opportunity for their children to grow up and receive an education and its consequent career opportunities. It is the opportunity to make individual choices without the restrictions of class, religion, race, or ethnic group

pursuit of happyness

pursuit of happyness was released in the January of 2006 and is based on a true story of a man named as Chris Gardner a self made millionaire who's early career started as rough as rough can be when he was basically trying to raise his kid Chris Jr on the streets with only dreams of any future success. the movie is an ultimate story of the American dream in which is the dream for the freedom, power, wealthiness and so on so forth.

this is part one of a documentary about the real life Chris Gardner, really the first few minutes of this to give you the shocking reality of his life.

the film starts with shots of buildings which perhaps suggest that the film is based around a financial zone also the usage of American flags also connects to the American dream; the mixture of street performers and business men show you the difference between happiness and depression. the main character Chris Gardner (played by will smith) is attempting to continue his family finances on his regretful decision in investing on an invention which seems useless for the amount of money its worth show by the way we see his first meeting while trying to offload the machines.

following scenes are shown in this film that suggest the American dream exist in this film such as a scene of Chris and Christopher( the son) are shooting some hoops while Christopher starts expressing his dream of being a famous basket ball player when Chris accidental flips at Christopher say that his dream is stupid, falses Christopher to break down in tears but redeems himself by an emotional and powerful line telling him to go for your dream and yet no one change his goal not even him.

this film end with chris getting what he wanted the freedom to be happy through money he has earned what he has deserved .
